THIS IS A JAPANESE SCHOOL CLOCK MADE BY THE TAKANA CLOCK MANUFACTURING CO. IN NAGOYA, JAPAN, CIRCA 1910-1920. THE CASE IS MADE OF ASH AND HAS A BLACK RING ON THE UPPER WOOD OCTAGON. THE DIAL IS A NEW PAPER REPLACEMENT WITH ARABIC NUMERALS (THE DIAL PAN IS ALSO A REPLACEMENT) AND HAS A BRASS BEZEL. THE LOWER DOOR HAS GLASS. THE PENDULUM IS A WOOD ROD WITH A BRASS BOB THAT IS VISIBLE THROUGH THE GLASS. THE 8 DAY SPRINGWOUND MOVEMENT STRIKES THE HOURS ON A COILED GONG.
